Syngenta Crop Protection AG, Switzerland ("Syngenta/We/Us") is the data controller for the Applicant Tracking System and is responsible for processing your personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act of 19 June 1992 (as amended) (the “DPA”).

Syngenta recognizes and respects the privacy of candidates and other users of this Applicant Tracking System with regard to personal information obtained through this Applicant Tracking System and through the background investigation described below.
We ask you to review our Personal Data Privacy Notice. After you indicate your acceptance of the terms of the Notice below and that you have read the statement by clicking "I Agree" at the bottom, you will have access to provide information on your experiences and preferences for the position you have selected, and/or complete a candidate profile. If you decide that you are not ready to submit your personal information to Syngenta, click "I Decline".

Syngenta may pass your information to its other companies within the Syngenta group of companies ("Syngenta Group") – for example, if you have applied for a job with another company, your information will be shared with the company identified in the job posting as well as third parties who are acting on Syngenta’s behalf as part of the recruitment and hiring process. We will not disclose your data to any third party for the purposes of any direct marketing of products or services. What type of personal information do we collect?

When you apply for a position with Syngenta, we require some mandatory information and you may voluntarily provide us with additional personal information such as your physical address, telephone number, date of birth and other identifying data as well as your education and work history and references.

Unless allowed by local data protection laws we will not collect “sensitive data” in the meaning of the DPA: personal information about racial/ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union memberships, health, sexual life and the commission of offences and related proceedings.

If we invite you for interview and, for example, you ask us to make adjustments to cater for mobility requirements. By providing this information you will be giving explicit consent to Syngenta Group to process it in accordance with the DPA, this privacy policy and local legal requirements.

How do we use this personal information?

We use the information you provide for recruiting and hiring purposes only.
If you are not successful, we may still keep your application to allow us to consider you for other suitable vacancies within the Syngenta Group in the future.

If we make you an offer, we will check the information you have provided:

  • By contacting the references you nominate; and
  • For certain jobs, by conducting a criminal background check. If this applies to a job for which you are applying, we will let you know this first.

If we wish to take up references we will seek your permission first.

We are an international company. We may transfer the information in this application form to the Netherlands, where the Applicant Tracking System is based. Wherever your personal information is transferred, stored or processed by us, we will take reasonable steps to safeguard the privacy of your personal information. Additionally, when using or disclosing personal information transferred from the European Union, we abide by the Safe Harbor Principles as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce, use standard contract clauses approved by the European Commission, adopt other means for ensuring adequate safeguards for your information, or obtain your consent to this transfer.

How long will we hold your information for?

Unless specified otherwise by local data protection laws, the information you submit will be held in accordance with this data privacy statement for a period of 24 months from your initial application. All data will be deleted after this time and you would need to resubmit should you wish to apply again. If you wish to have your information removed prior to this period, please contact us at
